Our Mission

Built From Service.Built to Keep Serving.

Veteran Command was not created to sell military merchandise. It was created around a simple belief:

The experiences earned through service should mean something long after the mission is over.

The places. The people. The missions. The deployments. The adventures. The organizations that became part of your identity. The stories your family has heard a hundred times, and the ones they have never heard at all.

Those experiences become part of who we are.

Veteran Command exists to preserve them, strengthen the communities built around them, and turn them into something that continues creating impact.

This is where service becomes legacy.

The Story Behind Veteran Command

A Life Built Around Service, Adventure, and the Next Mission

Mike Deibler · Founder, Veteran Command

I have spent more than 20 years serving in the United States Army while building a career supporting national security and Special Operations missions.

That life has taken me around the world.

Some places were incredible.

Some were dangerous.

Some I never expected to see.

And some changed the way I looked at the world forever.

Long before any of that, I was a kid obsessed with Indiana Jones.

The adventure was obviously part of it. Exploring places most people would never see. Taking risks. Discovering something beyond the horizon.

But what stuck with me was something deeper.

Go see what is out there. Push the boundaries. Do things that matter.

The Army gave me the opportunity to live my own version of that philosophy.

Not chasing ancient artifacts, unfortunately.

But traveling the world, serving alongside extraordinary people, operating in challenging environments, taking risks, solving hard problems, and collecting a lifetime of experiences along the way.

Eventually, I realized those experiences were not just memories.

They were part of a story.

And like a lot of service members and veterans, I discovered that your story cannot really be explained by a résumé.

It cannot be captured by a ribbon rack.

It cannot be summarized by a shadow box.

Those things tell part of the story.

But they do not show the journey.

  • Every assignment has a story.
  • Every deployment has people attached to it.
  • Every mission leaves something behind.
  • Every place on the map represents a completely different chapter of your life.

That idea became the foundation for everything Veteran Command would eventually become.

The First Mission

The DTS Map

The idea behind the DTS Map came from something I understood firsthand.

A military career is not one deployment, one unit, or one assignment.

It is a trail across the world.

So I started building a way to actually see it.

Not a generic travel map.

Not another piece of military décor.

A map specifically designed around military service that could capture duty stations, deployments, TDYs, exercises, schools, travel, units, rank, awards, organizations, and the experiences that shaped someone's career.

The first DTS Maps were built one at a time.

Customer by customer.

Story by story.

And then something happened that changed the way I looked at the product.

Veterans did not just look at their maps.

They started telling stories.
  • A pin would remind someone of a deployment.
  • A base would bring back a name they had not thought about in years.
  • A spouse would finally see how much of the world their husband or wife had experienced.
  • Kids would ask their parents where they had been.
  • Old teammates would stand around the map swapping stories.

The map became less about geography and more about memory.

That was when I realized we were building something much bigger than a product.

We were preserving Trails of Valor.

From a Map to a Mission

Veteran Command Begins to Grow

The DTS Map proved something important.

Veterans do not need more things with camouflage printed on them.

They want things that actually mean something.

They want connection.

They want purpose.

They want their stories remembered.

And many still want an opportunity to lead, build, take risks, and serve something larger than themselves.

That became the foundation of Veteran Command.

What began with one product has grown into a broader mission spanning products, professional training, veteran events, partnerships, technology, community initiatives, and support to organizations serving the military, Special Operations, intelligence, veteran, and first responder communities.

Different missions.

Same purpose.

Continue serving. Create impact. Preserve the story.

The Veteran Mindset

Brotherhood. Leadership. Courage to Move First.

Military service teaches lessons that are difficult to replicate anywhere else.

  • You learn how to lead when the answer is not obvious.
  • You learn how to make decisions with imperfect information.
  • You learn to trust the person beside you.
  • You learn that calculated risk is sometimes necessary to accomplish anything meaningful.
  • And above all, you learn that the mission is rarely accomplished alone.

That brotherhood does not disappear when the uniform comes off.

Neither does the ability to lead.

Veterans have enormous potential to build businesses, strengthen communities, mentor others, solve difficult problems, and inspire the people around them to push beyond what they thought they were capable of doing.

Veteran Command believes we should use that experience.

Explore more. Build more. Take the risk. Lead from the front.

And then help the next person do the same.

Our Mission

Turn Service Into Lasting Impact

Veteran Command exists to build products, experiences, training, technology, and communities worthy of the people they are designed to serve.

  1. 01We preserve the stories of military service.
  2. 02We bring veterans and their communities together.
  3. 03We transfer hard-earned experience to the next generation.

Because leaving one mission behind does not mean your ability to contribute disappears.

Sometimes the mission simply changes.

Be a Force Multiplier.

The Veteran Command Timeline

From the First Pin to Headquarters

  1. The Foundation

    Service Before Business

A career in the Army and national security created the foundation for Veteran Command.

Years spent traveling, operating alongside remarkable people, confronting difficult problems, and experiencing the world beyond the familiar shaped the principles the company would eventually be built around:

Mission. People. Leadership. Adventure. Innovation. Legacy.

  2. 2023

    The First DTS Map

The concept begins with a simple question:

How do you display an entire military journey?

It is the story of how you got here.

  3. 2024

    From Prototype to Real Business

The DTS Map evolves from an early concept into a premium personalized military legacy piece.

    The experiment becomes a business.

The business begins becoming a mission.

    Building the Community

    Veteran Command expands beyond products.

The Smoke Pit and other community events create physical spaces where veterans, service members, first responders, families, businesses, and nonprofit organizations can connect without the forced atmosphere that sometimes surrounds traditional veteran networking.

    The formula is simple:

Get good people in the same place and give them a reason to talk.

Veteran Command also continues supporting organizations connected to the Special Operations and veteran communities through its products, events, partnerships, and charitable efforts.

    Veteran Command Evolves

The DTS Map continues growing as Veteran Command's flagship product, with more than 100 military journeys represented through maps built for service members, veterans, leaders, families, and organizations.

Operational Support Services brings real-world experience into professional training and mission support.

The company becomes what it was always meant to be:

A platform for turning experience into impact.

The Next Chapter

Veteran Command Headquarters

VeteranCommand.us becomes the headquarters connecting everything under one mission.

DTS Map

Preserve the journey.

Operational Support Services

Transfer the experience.

Smoke Pit

Build the community.

Veteran Command Initiatives

Create the next mission.

The divisions may operate differently, but they share the same DNA.

Everything we build should accomplish at least one of three things:

Preserve a story.

Strengthen a community.

Create an impact.

If it does none of those things, we probably should not be building it.

The Symbol

Why the Spear?

The Veteran Command symbol: a spear rising between two wings.

Veteran Command was built around the idea of the force multiplier.

A force multiplier does not simply add capability.

It makes everything around it more effective.

That philosophy comes directly from the environments that shaped this company.

  • Good intelligence makes an operation better.
  • Good training makes a team better.
  • Good technology makes people more capable.
  • Good leaders make everyone around them better.
  • Good communities do the same thing.

And sometimes being a force multiplier simply means being willing to go first.

Then turn around and bring others with you.

We are not interested in simply occupying space in the veteran market.

We want to create things that move it forward.

Our Standard

Mission First. People Always.

We believe veteran-owned should mean more than a label at the bottom of a website.

It should influence how the company operates.

  1. 01Build things with purpose.
  2. 02Take care of people.
  3. 03Do what you said you would do.
  4. 04Be willing to take the calculated risk.
  5. 05Never stop exploring.
  6. 06Never stop improving.
  7. 07Admit when you get something wrong.
  8. 08Support the communities that helped build you.
  9. 09Help others find the courage to pursue their own next mission.
  10. 10And never forget where you came from.

Those principles are simple.

They are also the standard.

The Mission Continues

Veteran Command started with one veteran trying to find a better way to tell the story of military service.

It has become something much larger.

More products will come.

More events will happen.

More partnerships will form.

More places will be explored.

More boundaries will be pushed.

And there will almost certainly be more ideas built that began as something scribbled on a whiteboard that probably sounded slightly insane at the time.

That is part of the point.

Because Veteran Command is not really about looking backward.

It is about honoring where we came from while continuing to move forward.

To keep exploring.

To keep leading.

To keep building.

To keep serving.

And hopefully, to inspire someone else to take the risk and begin their own next adventure.

Honor the journey. Preserve the story. Strengthen the community. Keep moving forward.

Because service does not end when one mission does.

The mission changes.

Be a Force Multiplier.
